With a population of 1,179, Whitaker offers a close-knit community atmosphere with a rich history and plenty of small-town charm.
Named after pioneer settler James Whitaker, the borough was officially incorporated on January 4, 1904, from part of the former Mifflin Township. Whitaker shares borders with Munhall to the northwest and West Mifflin to the south and east. Additionally, the borough is connected to the neighboring boroughs of Braddock and Rankin via the Rankin Bridge, allowing for convenient access to nearby communities.
